About Paradise Pools

Paradise Pools offers a striking experience with its crystal-clear cold water set beneath rugged rocky bluffs along California’s North Fork Trinity River. This primitive swimming hole invites you to immerse yourself in refreshing mountain waters surrounded by untamed natural beauty.

Getting There

To reach Paradise Pools, head north from Helena on East Fork Road for about a mile and cross the bridge over the river. Parking is limited in a small clearing just past the bridge on the left. From there, a short 5-minute walk leads along a narrow path perched above the river to the cascading pools below.

What to Expect

The water at Paradise Pools is crisp and invigorating, sourced directly from the river’s flow. You’ll find several deep swimming holes framed by rocky banks, with an atmosphere that feels secluded yet alive with nature sounds. Being a primitive site, there are no facilities and the area sees light to moderate use in summer.

Tips for Visitors

Visit during summer when the weather warms the air but the water stays refreshingly cool. Bring sturdy shoes for the uneven trail and pack out all trash to respect the pristine environment. There’s no fee or official rules, and some visitors embrace its unofficially clothing-optional vibe, so prepare for a truly natural swimming experience.
