About Oak Creek
Oak Creek is a brisk, refreshing cold spring nestled in a quiet Nevada ravine. It features two spacious natural pools where you can immerse yourself in cool, crystal-clear water. This primitive spring offers a serene spot to escape the desert heat, surrounded by rugged terrain and native vegetation.
Getting There
You reach Oak Creek by taking the one-way Scenic Loop Drive, a 13-mile route through the area. The turnoff to the Oak Creek trail is the last gravel road on the right before completing the loop—missing it means an extra 13 miles back around. From the small parking area, you’ll enjoy a brief 5-minute walk down a well-marked trail that’s easy to navigate.
What to Expect
The waters at Oak Creek are cold and invigorating, perfect for cooling off after a warm hike. The atmosphere is quiet and unspoiled, with few signs of development or crowds. Facilities are minimal; you’ll find only natural surroundings here, so expect a rustic experience and bring any supplies you need.
Tips for Visitors
Plan to visit in cooler parts of the day or year to enjoy the crisp water without overheating. Parking is limited, so arrive early to secure a spot. There is no clear fee information; carry some cash just in case. Bring sturdy shoes for the trail and respect the fragile ecosystem by packing out all trash.
