About Jordan Hot Springs

Jordan Hot Springs offers a true escape deep within the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. This primitive hot spring invites you to soak in natural warm waters surrounded by rugged canyon walls and dense forest, creating a tranquil setting far from city noise. Its 99°F pools provide a soothing reward after an adventurous hike.

Getting There

Reaching Jordan Hot Springs requires a challenging 7-mile trek along the Little Bear Canyon Trail in Gila National Forest. You will cross about 15 river streams, so waterproof shoes are essential. Parking is limited near the trailhead, and expect the hike to take at least two hours one way.

What to Expect

The pools at Jordan Hot Springs are rustic and unmarked, offering an authentic wilderness soaking experience. The water is comfortably warm and the area remains peaceful most of the year due to strenuous access. Facilities are nonexistent—this is a raw nature spot with clothing optional policy embraced by many visitors.

Tips for Visitors

Plan your visit in good weather and start early to avoid afternoon heat or crowds. Carry plenty of water and snacks for the long hike and wear sturdy, waterproof footwear to cross the river crossings safely. There is no fee to enjoy this New Mexico swimming hole, but respect the environment by packing out all trash.
